Introduction to Tucows Domain Auctions
This document describes the use of an auction service for bidding on and purchasing expired domain names. The Domain Name Auction service allows you to sign up for an auction account, find the domain name you want, and place your bid. If you win a bid, you are required to pay the winning bid amount for the domain name. The winning bid amount does not include the renewal (registration) fee for the domain name; the renewal fee is payable in a separate transaction.
Before a domain is eligible to be auctioned, the domain’s original owner is still able to renew the expiring domain name. Even during the auction and auction escrow periods, the domain’s original owner is able to redeem the domain before it is granted to a winning bidder.
You can also use the service to find domain names that are about to expire and request information on current and future auctions through RSS feeds.
The Tucows Domain Name Auction service supports the .com, .net, .info, .org, and .biz domains.
