Placing A Bid On A Domain Name

To place a bid on a domain name in a current auction:

1. If you are not there already, go to the Domain Name Auction home page in your web browser.

2. In the Manage Your Account section, enter your username and password, then click the Login button. Your auction account page opens.

3. To find a domain name on which to bid, do one of the following:

Search for a domain name

Choose a domain name from a current auction

To search for a domain name enter a keyword or a domain name in the Search domain names using keywords or enter a domain name field, then click Go. The search results page opens. Click the radio button beside the domain name in the list, then click the Place a Bid button. The bid page opens.

To choose a domain name from a current auction click the radio button beside the domain name in the Current Top Domain Name Auctions section, then click the Place a Bid button. The bid page opens.

To place a bid

1. In the bid page, enter the amount you want to bid, at least $15 in U.S. funds, in the Your Maximum Bid Amount field, then click the Continue button. Now review and confirm your bid amount.

2. Accept the amount displayed, or change it, then click the Submit Bid button. A page opens displaying a confirmation message.

Subsequently, during a live auction, the Domain Name Auction service’s proxy bidding system will bid up to this amount on your behalf. Once the current bid amount exceeds your maximum bid, the system will no longer place bids on your behalf. Repeat these steps to increase your proxy bid amount.

You will be notified by email if you are losing an auction, that is, when you have been outbid by a bid greater than your current proxy bid.
