Searching for a Domain Name
There are three ways to search for a domain to bid on: Simple. See “Simple Domain Search” for more information. Advanced. See “Advanced Domain Search” for more information. Auction-based. See “Auction-Based Domain Search” for more information. You do not need to be logged-in to the service to conduct a search. You need to log-in to the service before you can place a bid on a domain name. Simple Domain SearchTo conduct a simple search: 1. If you are not there already, go to the Domain Name Auction home page in your web browser. 2. In the Search domain names using keywords or enter a domain name in the Domain Search field, do one of the following: Enter the domain name, then click Go. Enter a keyword or several keywords that will be contained within the domain name(s) returned, then click Go. For example, the keyword sequence ’smith auto auction’ will return smithautoauction2006.com and smithbrothers2006autoauction.com. Single keywords must be between 3 and 30 characters each. Multiple keywords, which must be separated by spaces, must not exceed a combined maximum length of 67 characters including spaces. The service carries out the specified search. If the search is successful, a confirmation message is shown on the search results page that appears. The service displays a list of names that match your criteria and the current registration status of the domain names. If the search is unsuccessful, a message is shown in red text at the top of the page. You now can add a domain name to your Watch List, place a bid on the domain name (if it is in a current auction), ask to be notified of changes to the domain name (if it is in a future auction), or save the search. Advanced Domain SearchTo conduct an advanced search: 1. If you are not there already, go to the Domain Name Auction home page in your web browser. 2. Click the Advanced button beside the Domain Search field. The Advanced Search page opens. 3. In the Search Domain Names Using Keywords or add Domain Name section, do at least one of the following: From the Contains this drop-down list, choose one of Contains this, Ends with, Match this, or Starts with, then type the keyword(s) in the adjacent field. Enter a keyword or several keywords that will be contained within the domain name(s) returned. If you choose Contains this, the keyword(s) you enter can be contained anywhere within the domain name you are searching for. For example, the keyword sequence ’smith auto auction’ will return smithautoauction2006.com and smithbrothers2006autoauction.com. Single keywords must be between 3 and 30 characters each. Multiple keywords, which must be separated by spaces, must not exceed a combined maximum length of 67 characters including spaces. Click one or more of the following Top Level Domain (TLD) checkboxes: .com .net .org .biz .info Specify the characteristics of the domain name: In the Contains section, in the Maximum Length field, type the maximum number of characters in the domain name. To exclude items from this maximum number, choose one or both of the Excludes Hyphens and Excludes Digits checkboxes. In the Exclude These Words field, type the words to exclude. Separate multiple words with spaces. In the Show Domains Priced section, in the Minimum US $ field, type the minimum price in U.S. dollars. In the Show Domains Priced section, in the Maximum US $ field, type the maximum price in U.S. dollars. In the Show Only section, specify the auction type to search by choosing the Current Auctions, Future Auctions, or All radio button. In the Listings section, specify the boundary and timeframe for the listings. From the leftmost Listings drop-down list, choose one of Ending in more than, Ending within, or Starting within. From the rightmost Listings drop-down list, choose one of the available timeframes, which are indicated in hours and days. 4. Click Search. The service carries out the specified search. In the Search for a Domain Name section, in the Search domain names using keywords or enter a domain name field, do one of the following: Enter the domain name, then click Go. Enter a keyword or several keywords that will be contained within the domain name(s) returned, then click Go. For example, the keyword sequence ’smith auto auction’ will return smithautoauction2006.com and smithbrothers2006autoauction.com. Single keywords must be between 3 and 30 characters each.
