2 Tips on Finding Old or Emerging Premium Domains

Two domaining tips have come from the SEO quarter this week. So does this mean the SEOmainers are more creative than the traditional domainer set, or do they just not know when to keep their mouths shut ; -)

Tip 1: Finding Old Abandoned Sites

Justin Laing has released a tool called Sitefinder301 that uses the Open Directory Project and optionally the Internet Archive to find abandoned sites that are relevant to your niche.

Many of the sites listed in the Open Directory are very old and have been abandoned by their owners. There may be owners that are willing to sell you their old sites for a real bargain. Sitefinder301 helps you find these bargains.

Tip 2: Finding Emerging Premium Domains

Brian Provost writes another quality post on “10 Things I’ve Learned About Domaining Since I Jumped Into The Pool“. Well worth a read but as for practical tips, this one shone out.

Since you’ve read this far, I’ll share one of my fishing spots for you. I know I’m not the only one fishing there, but it hasn’t yet been super-automated by too many guys, so you can mine it. Track all the new Wikipedia pages that are being generated. There’s a thousand pounds of shit to sift through, but you will find emerging topics that haven’t had their premium.com registered yet. Thank me later.
